'Fallen Oak'

Acrylic & Water-Soluble Oil Paint

£8550.00

Fallen Oak is an original acrylic and water-soluble oil painting on wood panel (A1, 59.4 × 84.1 cm), inspired by a fallen oak tree at Cabilla Woods, Cornwall—home to the charity The Thousand Year Trust. The work captures a moment of quiet resilience, where a fallen tree continues to live and regenerate, rooted back into the forest floor of a rare Atlantic temperate rainforest.

The original painting appeared on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2026, as the artist, Katie Sims, starred as a main contestant competing on the show.

Painted directly onto wood, the natural grain of the panel is intentionally left visible, echoing the physical presence and history of the oak itself. Layered colour and texture reflect the mosses, lichens, and life that thrive within these endangered ecosystems.

This painting played a pivotal role in my practice, securing my place on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year 2026. Fallen Oak was displayed throughout the programme and viewed in person by both the judges and the public during the selection process.

Prints are available from A4 up to A1, framed or unframed.
